How can community organisations make AI work for them?

That was the focus of a practical workshop hosted by Bishop Line CRP at Hopetown Darlington.

The event brought together charities, community groups and neighbouring Community Rail Partnerships to explore the growing role of artificial intelligence and how organisations can harness its potential.

Industry expert Andy Hitchcock of Dark Star UK led the session, sharing insights on using AI to boost visibility, improve communications and strengthen digital presence. Attendees learned why keeping websites and social media channels up to date is increasingly important, ensuring AI-powered search tools can accurately represent their organisation and connect more people with their work.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees describing the workshop as interesting, useful and informative. Participants appreciated the opportunity to learn about AI, network with colleagues from neighbouring Community Rail Partnerships and community groups, and explore ways to apply new knowledge within their organisations. Many thanked Bishop Line CRP for organising the event and expressed a desire to collaborate on future initiatives.

This workshop was funded by CrossCountry and was attended by representatives from Bishop Trains, Community Rail Network, Darlington Association on Disability, Esk Valley CRP, Friends of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, Northern, Tyne Valley CRP, Weardale Railway Trust, and The Forum Music Studios.
