There are six stations along the line which connect to the East Coast Main Line, this makes the Bishop Line a great choice for travelling to work or college, picking up some shopping, or enjoying a day out visiting the many attractions along the line.
It’s also a great way to start a longer journey. Our trains connect to the long distance services at Darlington, so you can travel to Newcastle, Edinburgh, London or anywhere you choose starting from your home station.
Starting in Bishop Auckland; home of Auckland Palace, the line takes in the beautiful historic scenery of Shildon, passing alongside Locomotion Museum, through Newton Aycliffe, Heighington and the Hitachi Rail site, North Road Station with the North East’s newest attraction Hopetown Darlington, over the famous Skerne Bridge then on to Darlington station.
Beyond Darlington the line continues as the Tees Valley line to Saltburn via Eaglescliffe, Middlesbrough and Redcar.
At Bishop Auckland the line connects with the Weardale Railway.
